This book tells about the history, development and activities of secret societies from ancient times until the mid-nineteenth century. The masons and the knights Templar, alchemists and Rosicrucians, the Kabbalists and Gnostics – almost all famous world history of the secret society described in the fundamental work Secertary, published in 1874. The author thought his book "the most clear report about the secret societies" with a detailed classification and description of their goals, tasks, rituals and rules of initiation.
The book is illustrated with etchings of Francisco Goya, as well as engravings of the XIV-XVIII centuries.
