At the beginning of the XXth century S. N. Khudekov (1837-1928) has aimed to more fully reflect the picture of the choreographic art from the earliest times, focusing on the theory and terminology of dance, characteristic of European ballet schools as well as biographies of prominent dancers. Khudekov used in his fundamental work, a wealth of material from his personal collection – about 15 thousand drawings and photos of the XVII-XX centuries. The edition of the fourth volume was considered to be fully lost in a fire in a printing house in 1918, while in 2007 it was accidentally discovered a few miraculously preserved copy. In this publication certainly are a rarity, fully played all four volumes.
