The present edition is composed of three treatises – "an elegant life", "exciting" and "the Theory of gait". "Treatise on elegant living" was first published in the Paris magazine "Fashion" with the epigraph: "the Mind of a man is in how he holds the stick." Inherent in Balzac's wit, he turns in these works to those who, having no aristocratic origins, wants to look luxurious and sparkle in the light.
So, society is divided into three categories: people who work; people who think; people who do nothing. It follows that, whether it is the poetic story of a wandering artist or dull and sleep history as a constitutional monarch, ways of life, there are only three: labour; Bohemian life; life elegant.
Elegant life in the broadest sense is the art of spiritual leisure.
To become elegant, you must first have the right to enjoy leisure, bypassing the labor: in other words, to win a large sum in the lottery to be born the son of a millionaire, a Prince, or a lucky person who's doing nothing, takes a few posts at once.
